전지홍은 마산(창원)에서 태어나 신도시 일산까지 이어지는 긴 이주의 시간을 보냈다. 반복된 이주의 과정은 경계의 언어인 ‘나의 사투리’로 자연스럽게 스며들었고, 이는 타자와의 다름을 긍정하고 공동체의 다양성을 발견하는 계기가 되었다. 문화재 해설가인 어머니의 영향으로 시간을 되짚고 서사를 가꾸며 걷기를 통해 세상을 이해하는 태도가 익숙하다. 현재는 지역의 경계를 허물며 너르게 활동하고 있다.
작가는 개인의 발자취에서 출발해 도시의 기억과 장소의 서사를 되짚는다. 공간을 온전히 감각하고, 이를 읊조림과 글쓰기, 회화, 설치 등의 매체로 시각화한다. 특히 직접 길 위를 걸으며 신체로 이해한 풍경을 전통 고지도 안에서의 ‘걷기’ 방식과 연결하며, 이를 동양화 매체를 기반으로 한 지도 회화로 제작한다. 이 과정을 통해 도시와 개인, 공동체의 파편화된 기억들을 하나의 풍경으로 엮어내며, 함께 유람할 수 있는 서사적 공간을 꾸리는 작업을 이어가고 있다.

Jihong Jeon senses space by retracing the memories of the city and the narratives of places.
Repeated unintended migrations have naturally permeated the traces of movement into ‘my accent.’ She walks back through her time of having to send away things unpreparedly and having to become accustomed to things in the dialect she wanted to hide, thinking it was a complex. These walks follow the walking methods within traditional old maps, creating map paintings using oriental painting media, and continuing work that can suggest a sense of roving through paintings and installation environments in space.
